J. Crew is opening its fourth San Diego-area store at the Carlsbad Forum next Wednesday in what used to be home decor retailer Z Gallerie.

The retailer will fill 6,000 square feet with its formerly preppy, now fashion-forward apparel for women, kids and men. There's even a suit store for the gents.

J. Crew Group, which operates J. Crew and its sister company,Madewell, watched profits fall 38 percent in the second quarter of this year, as the privately held retailer faced higher expenses despite increased revenue. The company posted a profit of $10.8 million the quarter ending Aug. 2.
