Warby Parker Opens First Austin Storefront

August 22, 2016

We see a new look in your future. Warby Parker will open its first brick-and-mortar store in Austin this Saturday, August 27.

The trendy online eyewear company's new storefront is located at 1317 South Congress Ave., in the heart of hip SoCo. Customers can shop Warby Parker's full optical and sun collections, as well as an exclusive frame offering — the Caspar in jet black with blue mirrored sunglass lenses — available only at the new store. Other perks include a back patio and a photo booth to commemorate your new look.

The new store also features a dedicated writing center for Austin Bat Cave, the local nonprofit that gives children and teenagers free opportunities to develop their writing skills. The Austin Bat Cave team will also select books to stock a patio lending library, just like they did for the Warby Parker Class Trip bus. Warby Parker opened the mobile outpost at The Picnic trailer park on Barton Springs Road in fall 2014. Now that there's a permanent store in Austin, the bus will be rolling on to a new spot.

"Austin is one of a kind, and our experience here so far has been incredible," says co-founder and co-CEO Dave Gilboa in a statement. "We're so glad to finally open a permanent store here, and one that allows us to support the work of an organization as admirable as Austin Bat Cave."

The South Congress outpost will be open from 11 am to 7 pm daily. Prescription glasses are shipped within days; sunglasses and frames with non-prescription lenses are available for immediate takeaway. For every pair of glasses sold, a pair is distributed to someone in need through Warby Parker's Buy a Pair, Give a Pair program.

North Austinites, look for a second Warby Parker location at Domain Northside later this year.
