Warby Parker to open first Houston-area location

December 15, 2014

New York-based Warby Parker, the online eyewear retailer, is taking its fashionable glasses to a new, physical location in Houston, its first in the city, according to Houston Culture Map.

The store will be located in the River Oaks District, a $275 million, 650,000-square-foot high-end mixed-use development under construction near the Galleria area. The store will be next door to luxury brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli, Giuseppe Zanotti and L'Occitane.

Warby Parker is expected to open in the River Oaks District next year.

The River Oaks store is one of only a few Warby Parker storefronts. Other locations include Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Chicago.

The demand for luxury is on the rise in Houston.

In May, four major luxury retailers signes agreements to open stores in the River Oaks District, including Cartier, Dior, Hermès and Tom Ford.

Meanwhile, Uptown Park is undergoing a $1 billion renovation.
