The former Mister Rich location on Henderson Avenue is being taken over by a new boozy tenant, just in time for a New Year’s Eve bash this year. Cocktail lounge Dallas Proper will open at 2918 Henderson Avenue on December 31.

Coming from Refined Hospitality Concepts, the new nightlife destination will feature a bottle service program, mixology program and bites created by chef Jeffrey Kollinger. The newly renovated space will have retro notes from the cocktail lounges of the 1940s and 1950s in a “light and airy environment.”

Neighborhood Goods has sights set on Austin

Hot off an $11 million series A funding round, Dallas-based Neighborhood Goods has picked Austin for its third location.

Neighborhood Goods is a department store concept that offers shoppers a rotating selection of products, in addition to eating and dining space. The company opened its first store in the Legacy West development in Northwest Plano. Later this year, the company will open its second location in New York City and a third Austin location is expected after.

The Austin Neighborhood Goods will feature about 10,000 square feet of retail space in the South Congress area of the city.

Chef Tim Byres, most well-known for his Dallas restaurant Smoke and the cookbook that it inspired, is getting in on the bowl trend at Legacy Hall.

The chef will open Tight Quarters, an aptly named stall at the Plano food hall that will serve “power bowls” in the space between Blist’r Naan Wraps and Bavazo Peruvian Rotisserie, according to a press release. For those who have missed the onslaught of “power bowls” in their Instagram feeds, the dish usually involves a base of grains or salad that is topped with proteins like chicken or tofu and, of course, more veggies.

Henderson Avenue makeover wins Dallas City Council approval

Neighborhood Goods is the newest store to open in Legacy West. At Neighborhood Goods, brands that have built a strong online customer base will be available for purchase in a storefront. Hubble Contacts, MeUndies, and Hims are among the brands that will be sold at Neighborhood Goods.

The brands available for purchase at Neighborhood Goods will rotate every few months, allowing the store to diversify their selection. For a long time, some of the in-store brands were only available for purchase online. Now, founders Matt Alexander and Mark Masinter plan on showcasing quality but lesser-known brands in their new storefront.
